THE DAN HENDRY STORY
I was born in Ethiopia but came to live in England when I was just 4-years-old. I chose the name Kamēra for my website because it is the Amharic translation of ‘camera’ and my African heritage means a lot to me.
Like a lot of people, I started experimenting with photography on my iPhone and then moved onto a Canon EOS 700D when I managed to save up enough money. This camera was a lifeline for me when I spent some time living in a tiny village in Dorset where there wasn’t much to do except capture sunsets and fields.
Now I live in London with my family and one of my favourite things is observing people and capturing their unique personalities as they go about their daily routines. I always try to see different perspectives in every person I photograph. On my homepage, I’ve chosen the quote: ‘What happens inside your mind can happen inside a camera’ because it really captures what takes place in my head when I look through a lens.
When I’m not taking photographs, I enjoy composing digital music and playing sport.
